The word "Yoga" in Sanskrit simply means "to unite". Thus, the ultimate goal of yoga is to unite the mind, body, heart and soul. Bringing together all forms of being, to feel a sense of "completeness" and to be"at one".
Yoga originated around 5,000 years ago in India and is now widely practiced all over the world. It is an ancient form of exercise, focussing on strength, flexibility, movement and breathing. The practice of yoga postures and sequences expands much further than just "exercise". It can have a transformational effect on the mind, bringing more focus, control, concentration, confidence, stillness and contentment.
The continuous practice of Yoga eventually brings the body back to its natural and straight physical alignment, which in turn helps the organs within the body to function better and to communicate more harmoniously with each other.
The regular practice of yoga can:
